Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbH becomes environmental partner
Hamburg, January 2006 – Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbH has become an environmental partner of the City of Hamburg. Joern Pagels, Head of the Energy Section in the Department of Urban Development, today presented Heinz Jacqui, Managing Director of Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbH, with an environmental partnership certificate. The award recognises the voluntary environmental efforts the manufacturer of medical endoscopes and accessories has integrated in its production processes at the Hamburg-Wandsbek site.
Heinz Jacqui comments: “We are very pleased to receive this recognition as it acknowledges our constant efforts to make efficient use of the natural resources in all our production processes.” The environmental partnership is by far the largest cooperation between business and government for environmental and resource protection in northern Germany. It honours the efforts of companies that voluntarily undertake measures for environmental conservation, which are evaluated by the Department of Urban Development and in some cases financially supported. Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbH has made proposals for two measures: one for the efficient deployment of resources (such as water and energy, etc.), and another that will ensure significant reductions in CO2 emissions.
